Surgical removal of hard brown / black nuclear cataracts presents special challenges to the surgeon as well phaco machines. Such types cases are more prone to high rate of complication if they are attempted by phaco.Hard cataracts need SICS. In this video we are demonstrating capsulorrhexsis with help typtan blue dye. The nucleus management is being done by nucleus breaking in the tunnel (Size 5.00 mm).This procedure is very much safe with consistent and reproducible results in my hands. The cornea is bright clear next day.Viscoelastic we have used in this case was HPMC.

Posterior width of the scleral tunnel - 5.5 mm
Distance of posterior incision from the limbus was 1.5 mm
Anterior width of the scleral tunnel - 6.5 mm
Distance of the entry point in AC from the limbus - 1.0 mm

Hardness Grade 5
Size 9 to 10 mm
